Ken's experience in payroll of over forty years includes many years of practical payroll operations as well as being involved on HMRC and other governmental consultation panels, whilst writing extensively on payroll matters. He brings a deep understanding of his subject, both practical and legislative, and delivers his subject in a clear, concise manner, interspersed with practical tips and his own brand of humour. Ken is an accredited on-line tutor and was also awarded the Jean Strathearn Award for Lifetime Achievement in Payroll in 2001 and the CIPP Practioner of the Year Award in 2009.
An entertaining and informative speaker, Reg is one of the most popular tutors in the UK and runs the payroll courses for HR professionals. He draws on an encyclopaedic knowledge of all payroll matters and knows just how to present the most complex aspects in a clear, understanding and relevant manner. Reg was awarded the prestigious Jean Strathearn Award for Lifetime Achievement in Payroll by Gee's Pay Awards in 2003.
Howard has thirty years' experience in both the business and education fields. For the last ten years he has been involved in the introduction of new qualifications for industry and colleges, was heavily involved in the introduction of NVQ and has assisted numerous candidates in the acquisition of qualifications in industry and colleges. Howard is a qualified online tutor.
Kate was Payroll Legislation Manager at M&S prior to becoming Policy & Research Manager at the Institute of Payroll Professionals. She is a much sought after conference speaker and regularly writes articles and edits publications on legislative issues in both Payroll and Employment Law. She also provides mentoring support to payroll professionals.
With over twenty years in practice as an accountant, Nigel has built up a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Income Tax and National Insurance. In his presentations for HRD & Payroll Solutions, he combines this experience with a friendly and practical approach that is much appreciated by delegates.
Tim has twenty years' experience in managing large payroll departments predominantly in the public sector and has processed payrolls from Dundee to Entebbe, Jamaica to Western Australia. He has a wide ranging and practical experience of all the issues and problems encountered in international payroll as well as local government, and is an enthusiastic and patient tutor. He writes and lectures regularly on payroll issues, with particular emphasis on international payroll techniques and employment status.
Christine has gained over twenty years' experience in Personnel and Human Resources with blue chip companies. She combines her extensive experience in employment law and her ability to simplify this complicated subject, along with her extensive experience in counselling and training to present her subjects in a natural yet professional way. Christine is a qualified online tutor.
Bob has spent most of his career heading up the HR function in two major conglomerates, specialising in industrial relations and employment law. He set up his own HR consultancy in 1988 and now advises clients throughout the UK and Ireland on employment problems. His writing is published extensively throughout the World and he also presents courses and seminars on employment law. He has led courses for HRD & Payroll Solutions for over ten years.
Vince has over thirty years’ experience in payroll and pensions, most of it within the NHS and therefore brings a wealth of practical payroll experience to our team. He holds an MSc in Payroll Management and has also served as a Member Nominated Trustee of company Defined Benefit pension scheme for over 10 years.
Alan brings many years practical experience of payroll at the highest level to our team. He has been involved in Payroll Management of not only UK payrolls but also expatriate payrolls with blue chip organisations, not just having responsibility for the payroll but also sourcing and implementing large scale payroll systems. He is an accomplished trainer and author.
Gillian has been a payroller for 32 years working in many different fields of industry including publishing, charity, retail, payroll and hr software, higher education and property. As a trainer for a software company she delivered courses on a wide range of subjects, as well as project managing and implementing various Payroll and HR systems. Currently Gillian owns her own company providing payroll services, training and consulting on system and operational processes. She works very closely with the CIPP.
After 25 years as a payroll manager in the public sector, being involved in all aspects of payroll at a senior level, Alan decided to move to the private sector when he joined the Institute of Payroll Professionals. There, he was the Regional Development Officer for Scotland before concentrating on his role as a training consultant, travelling all over the UK and abroad delivering courses and offering advice on the many aspects of payroll. Alan is very supportive of anyone who is keen to learn and develop their skills for a career in payroll.
Fern comes to us from a 10 year highly successful career as a hands-on Payroll professional and is delighted to be joining The Learn Centre to share her knowledge and experience with all of The Learn Centre clients. Fern's passion for training is evident in every interaction she has with others in the business world and, with the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management as well as several Business and Professional Diplomas she is not only well placed to join Ken and his team at The Learn Centre in terms of knowledge, but also by having experienced good and not so good training in the past as a delegate herself.
